Summer Wardrobe on a Budget

Summer Clothing

With warm weather right around the corner and summer vacation plans on the horizon, I knew it was time to update my summer clothes selection.  Although it is important for every woman to update her look with the seasons, it can be costly and not always in the monthly budget.  Luckily there are retailers who cater to us moms in a major way!

I first took stock of what I already had to work with in my closet.  I knew I was going to need at least a few new shirts, I definitely needed shorts to replace the tired ones I have been wearing for a few summers and new summer dresses were certainly in order.  I also like to invest in basics when I am restocking my wardrobe as those things get worn so regularly that they often wear out first.  Lastly, I was on the market for a new pair of sandals.

Target can be a good place for basics and sandals.  I found their basics selection on this trip was a little limited and decided to look elsewhere for those items. However, I was delighted to find that they had already stocked their summer shoes and was lucky to discover a comfortable pair of flip-flops for under $15.  These will come in handy as I practically live in flip-flops all summer long.

I decided to go to Old Navy next.  The folks at Old Navy had families in mind when when they opened their doors.  This is a great place to find decent quality clothes at reasonable prices for the entire family.  I was lucky to arrive on a day that they were having a fantastic sale.  I got three shirts for eight dollars each and two pairs of shorts for under twenty dollars each.  I was also able to get three tank tops for four dollars each! A much better price than Target and they had an array of colors from which to choose so I got some that are sure to be favorites.  Old Navy also has a Super Cash program where they give out coupons for future sales.  I scored a couple of these and will definitely be back!

Everyone knows that Ross is the place for low-priced dresses.  Of course, you have to be weary of the quality of some of their clothes, but you can hardly go wrong with dresses that are under $15.  This is usually the place where I stock up on maxi dresses for the summer.  They are so comfortable and perfectly appropriate for casual summer gatherings.  I was pleased with their selection and found a few good pieces to round out my shopping trip.

Shopping on a budget can be difficult.  As long as you choose the right retailers, set aside plenty of time to look for bargains and keep your budget in mind, you will surely be able to find the right things for you.  It does take time and dedication, but it is not impossible! So good luck out their ladies and happy shopping!!
